Environmental Policy

Applicable from 4 March 2026

At .legal, we believe that responsible business also means being mindful of our environmental impact. While our digital business model means our direct footprint is limited, we recognise that our choices — from the infrastructure we build on to the suppliers we partner with — have real environmental implications. Acting responsibly in this regard is a natural extension of how we do business.

1. Purpose

1.1

.legal A/S is a Danish SaaS company with an entirely digital business model — we have no physical production, manufacturing, or logistics operations, which means our direct environmental footprint is inherently limited.

1.2

This policy formalises .legal's approach to environmental responsibility — describing how we take responsibility for the impact we do have, including the indirect impact arising through our choice of suppliers and infrastructure partners. It applies to our office operations in Aarhus, our software development activities, and our procurement of digital infrastructure and services.

2. Our direct environmental impact

2.1

As a software company, our direct environmental impact is limited to our office operations. We manage this through the following practices:

  1. We work primarily digitally and minimise the use of paper and physical materials.

  2. We limit business travel and prioritise remote meetings. When travel is necessary, we prefer public transportation over private car use.

  3. We support remote and hybrid work arrangements, which reduces commuting and office energy consumption.

  4. Waste from our Aarhus office is sorted in accordance with local regulations, including separation of paper, plastic, and electronics. Electronic equipment is disposed of through authorised recycling programmes.

  5. We do not have any physical production site requiring environmental approval.

3. Indirect environmental impact - suppliers & infrastructure

3.1

The most significant part of our environmental footprint is indirect, arising from the digital infrastructure we rely on to deliver our platform — primarily cloud hosting and data processing services.

3.2

We recognise that for a SaaS company, responsible supplier selection is the primary lever for environmental improvement. Therefore;

  1. We prefer suppliers and infrastructure partners who have documented environmental policies or certifications (e.g. ISO 14001 or equivalent).

  2. When evaluating primary infrastructure suppliers, their environmental commitments form part of our assessment.

  3. We prioritise hosting solutions powered by renewable energy where this is available and commercially viable.

  4. We maintain an overview of our primary sub-processors and stay informed of their environmental commitments as part of our general supplier management.

4. Continuous improvement

4.1

We are committed to continuously improving our environmental practices and supplier requirements as our business evolves. While we do not currently hold ISO 14001 certification or set quantified environmental targets beyond those outlined in Section 2, we review this policy continuously to ensure our approach remains relevant and progressively more ambitious.

5. Responsibility

5.1

This policy is reviewed annually by management to ensure it remains current and effective.

5.2

All employees are expected to uphold its principles in their day-to-day work and are encouraged to raise any relevant concerns or improvement opportunities with management.
