We're excited to announce the launch of AI-enabled compliance in .legal. This marks a significant milestone in our platform's evolution, bringing intelligent automation to your compliance workflows. Our first AI feature is now live: AI Contract Creation.
Compliance work is fundamentally about documentation. Policies, contracts, risk assessments, processing activities – it all generates text. Lots of it. This creates two core challenges: repetitive tasks and information overload.
Many compliance teams spend weeks validating data across similar documents, comparing contracts against golden standards, or scanning through mountains of documentation to answer a single question: "Do all these documents comply with this requirement?" These aren't complex tasks requiring deep expertise – they're time-consuming, manual work that pulls skilled compliance officers away from strategic decision-making.
The demand we're seeing is clear. Compliance teams want AI to extract information from documents, populate the right fields, and validate against standards (both internal and external) to identify risks. They want AI assistance with risk assessments, where they need to write justifications based on information scattered across policies, agreements, and records. Essentially, they want AI to handle the heavy lifting so they can focus on the decisions that actually require human judgement.
Here's the thing about AI in compliance tools: AI alone isn't the solution. You need the right foundation.
We've spent years building a unified compliance platform with all the functions you need, structured in a way that makes sense. The infrastructure for effective compliance is already there. By adding an AI layer on top of this, AI helps you exactly where you need it. This isn't an AI-first approach where you're dependent on writing the perfect prompt. It's AI working for you within the platform, in the places where you'd be working anyway.
And because we already have the full platform infrastructure – roles, security, audit trails – we don't need to invent these things. They're already there and working.
Perhaps most importantly, we've designed our data model from day one to be structured and interconnected. In compliance, relationships matter. A control needs to link to a policy, which links to a system, which links to a supplier. Making these connections work requires a clear, logical data model. AI thrives on structure and context. Our structured approach means the AI can generate results based on clear, relevant context rather than guessing from vague inputs.
We're aware we're not first out of the gate with AI features. That's deliberate. We've been following both compliance evolution and AI development closely because we want to build the right solution, not just the fastest one. We've accepted that we won't be first, but we're confident we're doing it properly.
Our philosophy is simple: AI should save time, not replace expertise. Compliance work still requires knowledgeable professionals who understand what they're looking at. AI should handle the repetitive tasks – the data validation that used to take weeks can now happen quickly. But the results? Those still need to be reviewed by someone who knows what they're doing.
We're integrating AI capabilities into the .legal compliance platform to help automate your compliance work even further. These intelligent features provide on-demand assistance with contract creation, legal guidance, quality assurance, and document analysis, helping your team work more efficiently with immediate AI support.
The first feature is now live: AI Contract Creation.
Our AI roadmap includes:
AI-Powered Contract Creation
Creating contracts in the platform just got significantly faster. Instead of manually entering all contract details, you can now let AI extract and populate information directly from your contract documents.
The AI processes the document, extracts relevant information, and automatically populates the contract fields including:
Standard fields such as:
Custom fields: If your contract template includes custom fields with descriptions, the AI uses these descriptions as context to extract the relevant information. The better you describe your custom fields, the higher the quality of data extraction.
Contract parties: The system automatically creates contract parties from the document. If a party already exists in your system, it matches based on registration number or company name to avoid duplicates.
Once the AI completes the extraction, you can review all populated fields before creating the contract. You can
The uploaded document is automatically attached to the contract once created and pinned as the main document.
Getting Started
This is the first feature in our new AI Features add-on, with more AI-powered capabilities coming soon. The add-on is currently free to use, but requires acceptance of our AI terms before activation.
The add-on can be activated by administrators on the plan side. Go to profile (top right corner) > See your plan > Step 2: Add-ons > Choose AI Features > Accept Terms and finish complete purchase. The Add-on is free but the flow must be completed in order for the add on to be activated.
